Network Entry Detail

Introduction

The Test Set engages in the Network Entry procedure when establishing two way communications with the SS. The messages transmitted during each phase of the Network Entry procedure are displayed in the Measurement Window when the Test Set is operating in BSE mode. The following sections describe the detailed steps in the procedure, and show the operation of the Test Set for each step.

Downlink Synchronization and Uplink Parameter Information

The E6651A constantly broadcasts an OFDMA frame to the SS containing the Preamble, FCH, DL-MAP, and UL-MAP. It also periodically broadcasts DCD and UCD messages. The SS uses the DL-MAP information to obtain UL-MAP, DCD and UCD information. The OFDMA frame structure used by the E6651A, including the mapping of each information type, is shown.

The Test Set periodically broadcasts DCD and UCD information to the SS to provide downlink synchronization and uplink parameter information at the designated frequency.
