How to Add a DUT

Last Updated: 2011-06-23

This topic describes how to add a new wireless device to the Interactive Functional Test Software.

To add a new DUT:

Note: If your wireless device is controlled via an interface type that is not yet defined in the Interactive Functional Test Software, you must add a interface type before continuing with this procedure.

  1. First, follow the setup procedure that applies to your type of DUT: Mobile Phone Setup or Network Card Setup. These procedures contain instructions on how to install the DUT's driver, configure the Internet settings and configure the network connection settings.

  2. Configure the MMS settings on your DUT (see MMS Setup).

  3. Click the Configuration tab>> DUT Configuration. In the Current DUT area of the DUT Configuration, click Add New.

  4. Enter a Name that uniquely identifies your wireless device, the Interface Type, and the Keypad Type that most closely resembles your wireless device. Also, set the key parameters specific to your the new device. To set cdma2000 parameters and/or 1xEV-DO parameters, select the corresponding radio button. The parameters that are defined here are the same as the settings located in the DUT specific settings area of the Test Set Control tab and are applied in the test set when this device is selected as the Current DUT.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Configure your new DUT by filling in the other fields on the DUT Configuration screen. This includes creating a modem connection script for your DUT so that you can use the Interactive Functional Test Software to establish a data connection between the DUT and the 8960 (see How to Write a Modem Connection Script for more information).
