DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute

Last updated: June 16, 2006

The DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute controls whether the DRCValueFixedMode Attribute is included in the FTAP Parameter Assignment Message or FETAP Parameter Assignment Message sent to the AT. The FTAP Parameter Assignment Message is sent when the test set is configured to TAP (see Test Application Protocol ). The FETAP Parameter Assignment Message is sent when the test set is configured to ETAP (see Enhanced Test Application Protocol ).

DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute can be set to:

  • On (DRC Value Fixed Mode enabled)

In this mode, the DRCValueFixedMode attribute is sent in the FTAP Parameter Assignment Message or FETAP Parameter Assignment Message . The test set dictates the DRC value of the Forward Traffic Channel by sending the DRCValue in the DRCValueFixedMode attribute. The AT is required to use the indicated DRC value. This means that the AT must set its transmitted DRC to the value specified by the DRCValueFixedMode attribute.

The DRCValue in the DRCValueFixedMode attribute is set according to the FTAP Rate if sent in the FTAP Parameter Assignment Message or set according to the F-Traffic Format if sent in the FETAP Parameter Assignment Message .

  • Off (DRC Value Fixed Mode not enabled)

In this mode, the DRCValueFixedMode attribute is not sent in the FTAP Parameter Assignment Message or FETAP Parameter Assignment Message . This means that the AT requests the DRC value based on the current link conditions as in real system operation.

Unlike the subtype 0 physical layer, the subtype 2 physical layer supports multiple transmission formats in response to a DRC value requested by the AT. The F-Traffic Config determines which transmission format is used for each requested DRC value. To determine which physical layer subtype is configured, see Release A Physical Layer Subtype .

The DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute is displayed on the Call Setup screen in the Application Configuration window when the Session Application Type is set to Test Application in the Active Cell operating mode.

Operating Considerations

  • DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute can be changed at any time. However, in some cases, changing this setting may result in an error message posted (see Short Packet Enabled Threshold for details).
  • When the DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute is on, the DRC value sent by the AT will match the DRC value that the test set directs the AT to send in all properly operating ATs. However, if the AT does not send the DRC value indicated by the test set, the test set will follow the DRC value sent by the AT. When this happens, there is no error or indication.
