Enhanced Test Application Protocol

This section is only applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

When the test set is configured to the Enhanced Test Application Protocol (ETAP) (see Test Application Configuration ) and a data connection is established ( Connected State ) in the Active Cell operating mode, the Enhanced Test Application Protocol setting determines if RETAP (Reverse Enhanced Test Application Protocol) or FETAP (Forward Enhanced Test Application Protocol) is enabled for controlling the test.

The RETAP configures the ETAP (0x000A) for testing of the AT's transmitter while the FETAP configures the ETAP (0x000A) for testing of the AT's receiver. See TAP/ETAP/MCTAP Data Connection Processing States Lifecycle .

The FETAP Parameter Assignment message and RETAP Parameter Assignment message are both sent to the access terminal to configure the ETAP (0x000A) as a data connection is established. The FETAP Parameter Assignment message is always sent first. What attributes are included in these messages and the test set behavior depend on the current Enhanced Test Application Protocol setting.

FETAP Parameter Assignment Message
DRC Value Fixed Mode	If DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute is set to on, then the DRC Value Fixed Mode attribute is sent (DRC Value Fixed Mode is enabled). The DRC Value field is set according to F-Traffic Format . If DRC Value Fixed Mode Attribute is set to off, then the DRC Value Fixed Mode attribute is NOT sent (DRC Value Fixed mode is NOT enabled).
DRC Cover Fixed Mode	DRC Cover Fixed Mode attribute is NOT sent (DRC Cover Fixed mode is NOT enabled). Since there is only one sector in the test set, there is no need to fix the DRC Cover. The DRC Cover for the test set is sent in the Traffic Channel Assignment message.
ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode	If ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode Attribute is set to on, then the ACKChannelBitFixedMode attribute is sent (ACK Channel Bit Fixed mode is enabled). Also, the ACK Channel Bit value is fixed to 1 by the test set (see Fixed Settings ). If the ACKChannelBitFixedMode attribute is sent, the ACK Channel Modulation Type Fixed Mode attribute must also be sent. If ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode Attribute is set to off, then the ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode attribute is NOT sent (ACK Channel Bit Fixed mode is NOT enabled).
Loop Back Mode	Loop Back Mode attribute is sent (Loop Back mode is enabled). This means the AT requires to transmit FETAP Loop Back Packets on the Reverse Traffic Channel.	Loop Back Mode attribute is NOT sent (Loop Back mode is NOT enabled).
ACK Channel Modulation Type Fixed Mode	If ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode Attribute is set to on, then the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedMode attribute is sent (ACK Channel Modulation Type Fixed mode is enabled). The ACKChannelModulationType field is set according to ACK Channel Modulation Type . Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol. If the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedMode attribute is sent, the ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode attribute must also be sent. If ACK Channel Bit Fixed Mode Attribute is set to off, then the ACKChannelModulationTypeFixedMode attribute is NOT sent (ACK Channel Modulation Type Fixed mode is NOT enabled).
RETAP Parameter Assignment Message
RETAP Test Packet Mode	RETAP Test Pkt Enable attribute is NOT sent (RETAP Test Packet mode is NOT enabled).	RETAP Test Pkt Enable attribute is sent (RETAP Test Packet mode is enabled). This indicates that AT is to start sending RETAP Test Packets on the reverse traffic channel.
Packet Rate Mode	Packet Rate Mode attribute is NOT sent (Packet Rate mode is NOT enabled) because it is only valid for Subtype 0 physical layer protocol sent in the RTAP Parameter Assignment Message . For Subtype 2 physical layer protocol, Packet Payload Size Mode is used if the Reverse Traffic Channel payload size is to be configured.
Packet Payload Size Mode	Packet Payload Size Mode attribute is NOT sent (Packet Payload Size mode is NOT enabled). Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.	Packet Payload Size Mode attribute is sent (Packet Payload Size mode is enabled). MinPayloadSizeIndex and MaxPayloadSizeIndex fields are set according to the R-Data Pkt Size . Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.
Enhanced Access Channel Rate Mode	Enhanced Access Channel Rate Mode attribute is sent (Enhanced Access Channel Rate Mode is enabled). EnhancedAccessChannelRateIndex field is set according to the Enhanced Access Rate . Valid only for Enhanced Access Channel MAC protocol (see Access Channel MAC Subtype ).
Burst Period Mode	Burst Period Mode attribute is NOT sent (Burst Period Mode is NOT enabled). Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.	Burst Period Mode attribute is sent (the Configured Burst Period mode is enabled). The LinkFlowID field is set according to the Reverse Data Transmission Mode and the BurstSize field is set to 0xFFFF (see Fixed Settings ). If the Burst Period Mode is sent, then the Burst Size Mode must also be sent. Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.
Burst Size Mode	Burst Size Mode attribute is NOT sent (Burst Size Mode is NOT enabled). Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.	Burst Size Mode attribute is sent (the Configured Burst Size mode is enabled). The LinkFlowID field is set according to the Reverse Data Transmission Mode and the BurstSize field is set to 0xFFFF (see Fixed Settings ). If the Burst Size Mode is sent, then the Burst Period Mode must also be sent. Valid only for Subtype 2 physical layer protocol.

Transmit FETAP Test Packets?	Yes
Maintain Connection if ETAP setting Changed?	Yes

The Enhanced Test Application Protocol setting can be set at any time. Changing this setting when an ETAP data connection is established will cause the ETAP to re-negotiate FETAP or RETAP on the existing traffic channel.

The Enhanced Test Application Protocol is displayed on the Call Setup screen in the Application Configuration window when the test set is configured to ETAP (see Test Application Configuration ) in the Active Cell operating mode.
