Pilot drop is used by the access terminal to start a pilot drop timer for a pilot in the active or candidate set. If a pilot's strength falls below the pilot drop threshold and remains there until the pilot drop timer expires, the following occurs:
The pilot drop threshold used by the access terminal is -0.5 dB times the pilot drop value sent by the test set.
Pilot drop is sent in the Configuration Request message (see TAP/ETAP Data Connection Call Flow ).
Pilot drop is a "Configurable Attribute" that is configured during the Session Negotiate State . Its value can not be changed when a session is open and Call Limit Mode is on. If pilot drop is changed when a connection is open, the connection will be closed. You will have to re-open the connection.
Pilot drop must be set to the proper value to avoid dropped connections (see Set "Pilot Drop" to proper value to avoid dropped connections ).
