Rate 1M8 Supported Control

Last updated: October 7, 2008

This section is only applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

The access terminal may support the transmission of the reverse traffic channel at 1843.2 kbps in subtype 2 physical layer. It negotiates with the test set in the Rate1M8Supported attribute of the Subtype 3 Reverse Traffic Channel MAC Protocol during session negotiation.

The Rate 1M8 Supported Control determines how the Rate1M8Supported attribute is negotiated during Session Negotiate State . When the Protocol Rel is set to A (1xEV-DO-A) and Release A Physical Layer Subtype is set to Subtype 2 , the test set supports two session negotiation control mode for the Rate1M8Supported attribute:

  • When the Rate 1M8 Supported Control is set to AN Specified , the Rate1M8Supported attribute, if successfully negotiated, will use AN-requested value for the session. See AN Specified Control Mode . The AN-requested value for the Rate1M8Supported attribute is fixed to 'Yes' by the test set (see Fixed Settings ).

Note that if your AT does not support Rate1M8Supported attribute value of 'Yes', session negotiation for this attribute will be rejected by the AT and an error is posted to indicate that the session open is failed. When this happens, you should change the Rate 1M8 Supported Control to AT Specified .

  • When the Rate 1M8 Supported Control is set to AT Specified , the Rate1M8Supported attribute, if successfully negotiated, will use AT-requested value for the session. The test set does not send any Configuration Request message for the Rate1M8Supported attribute. See AT Specified Control Mode . Setting the Rate 1M8 Supported Control to AT Specified is useful for some ATs that does not support Rate1M8Supported attribute value of 'Yes'.

When a session is open with the Protocol Rel set to A (1xEV-DO-A) and Release A Physical Layer Subtype set to Subtype 2 , whether or not the access terminal supports 1843.2 kbps transmission on the reverse traffic channel is indicated on the Rate 1M8 Supported In Use field of the Configurable Attribute In Use window on the Access Network Information screen. When the session is not open, the Rate 1M8 Supported In Use field is set to the protocol default value of the Rate1M8Supported attribute as defined by C.S0024-A standard.
