Session Open State
Last updated: May 24, 2006
In the session open state, the access terminal (AT) has an assigned UATI, but is not assigned any dedicated air-link resources. Communications between the AT and test set occur on the Access Channel and Control Channel. During a single session the AT and test set can open and close a connection several times.
The session open state is a non-transitory state (see
TAP/ETAP Data Connection Processing Lifecycle
and
Packet Data Connection Processing States Lifecycle
).
To query the state of the data connection, see
Data Connection State Synchronization
.
Operating Considerations
-
It is recommended not to execute a preset/reset (full or partial) when a session is open with an AT. This is because executing a preset/reset (full or partial) will take the test set to Idle state without signaling to the AT and may cause the test set and AT in a mismatched state. In this case, some ATs can not open a new session with the test set.
-
In the
lab application
, when the test set is configured to use the Default Packet Application (see
Session Application Type
), the session open state indicates neither the dedicated air-link connection nor the PPP connection is open between the AT and the test set.
