DUT IP Setup

Last updated: May 21, 2009

This section is only applicable to the lab application.

Description

The test set supports three types of IP connection with the access terminal (AT, or also the Device Under Test): IPv4, IPv6 and IPv4+IPv6. Before the AT initiates an IP connection (either IPv4 or IPv6 or both) with the test set, the DUT IP parameters must be correctly set. A typical DUT IP Setup parameters menu is shown as below.

DUT IP Setup Menu

For IPv4 address requirements, see IP Address Requirements , for IPv6 address, see IPv6 Address Requirements .

  • DUT IP Version

This parameter allows you to choose the type of the communication the test set will use when setting up a connection with the Device Under Test.

    • If the DUT IP Version is set to IPv4 , only an IPv4 connection is allowed to be set up between the test set and the DUT. Normal IPv4 operations are supported with parameters including: DUT IP Address , Internal Mobile IP State , Home Agent Shared Secret (Hex) , DUT Primary DNS Server IP Address , DUT Secondary DNS Server IP Address .
    • If the DUT IP Version is set to IPv6 , only an IPv6 connection is allowed to be set up between the test set and the DUT. Normal IPv6 operations are supported with parameters including: DUT IPv6 DNS Server , DUT IPv6 P-CSCF Server . A DUT IPv6 address (IID) will be allocated randomly to the DUT by the test set if the DUT does not promote one.
    • If the DUT IP Version is set to IPv4 + IPv6 (Dual) , both IPv4 and IPv6 connections are allowed to be set up between the test set and the DUT. It is also allowed to set up a single IP connection (either IPv4 or IPv6) if the DUT only supports one IP version.

    NOTE
DUT IP Version is only applicable when the test set's internal PDSN is used ( External PDSN State is set to On). If the External PDSN State is set to Off, this setting will have no effect and only IPv4 connection will be set up. Changing this parameter will cause the PPP session to be closed.

DUT IP Version only affects OTA (over the air) negotiation between the test set and the DUT. The test set always supports both IPv4 and IPv6 via LAN connections.

    GPIB Commands: CALL:MS:IP:VERSion

  • DUT IP Address
  • Internal Mobile IP State ,
  • Home Agent Shared Secret (Hex)
  • DUT Primary DNS Server IP Address ,
  • DUT Secondary DNS Server IP Address
  • DUT IPv6 DNS Server

This parameter provides the DNS server address to the DUT if the DUT requests a DNS Server IPv6 address in the VSNCP negotiation procedure. This is used when the test set is in eHRPD mode with the Session Application Type set to Alternate EMPA .

The DUT IPv6 DNS Server address is an typical IPv6 address and is comprised of two portion accordingly: IPv6 Prefix and IPv6 Interface ID (IID). Each portion is further divided into two parts (the upper part and the lower part) separately to simplify the input, see DUT IP Setup Menu .The DUT IPv6 DNS Server address setting is stored in non-volatile RAM and will NOT be changed by a reset, power cycle operations.

    GPIB Commands: CALL:MS:DNSServer:PRIMary:IP:ADDRess:IP6

  • DUT IPv6 P-CSCF Server

This parameter provides the P-CSCF server address to the DUT if the DUT requests a P-CSCF Server IPv6 address in the VSNCP negotiation procedure. This is used when the test set is in eHRPD mode with the Session Application Type set to Alternate EMPA .

The DUT IPv6 P-CSCF Server address is an typical IPv6 address and is comprised of two portion accordingly: IPv6 Prefix and IPv6 Interface ID (IID). Each portion is further divided into two parts (the upper part and the lower part) separately to simplify the input, see DUT IP Setup Menu .The DUT IPv6 P-CSCF Server address setting is stored in non-volatile RAM and will NOT be changed by a reset, power cycle operations.

    GPIB Commands: CALL:MS:CSCF:PROXy:IP:ADDRess:IP6
