How Do I Ping a Device From the Test Set?
Last updated: April 14, 2005
This section is only applicable to the lab application.
You can use the Ping feature of the test set to:
-
Ping the DUT from the test set
: It's useful to check the IP connection between the test set and the DUT. Pinging a DUT from the test set involves upper layer protocols such as IP control protocol called ICMP in the test set and the DUT. So although the air link connection sometimes is good (data connection status indicating Connected), the Ping may still be failed due to the problem of upper layer protocols.
-
Ping an alternate address from the test set
: It's useful to check the IP connection between the test set and a remote host (such as an PC acting as a FTP server).
