How Do I Perform Multi-unit Synchronization?
Last updated: November 21, 2005
This section is only applicable to the lab application.
Multiple Sync Clients can synchronize to the same Sync Server at the same time. The following procedure provides an example of how to make a synchronization between two test sets. It assumes that the test set running the E6702B cdma2000 lab application acts as a Sync Client and another one running the E6706A 1xEV-DO lab application acts as a Sync Server.
Prior to the following procedure, make sure you have finished the synchronization connection between the two test sets (see
Synchronization Connection Setup
).
Step 1: Configure the Sync Server
-
Press the
SYSTEM CONFIG
key.
-
Press the
Instrument Setup
(
F1
) key and set up the
LAN IP Address
as required.
-
Press the
CALL SETUP
key.
-
Verify that the
Operating Mode
(
F1
) is set to
Active Cell
and
System Type
(
F2
)is set to
IS-856
for this example.
-
Verify the External Trigger is set to 2 s. Go to
Call Control 2 of 3,
press the
Generator Info
(
F3
), and then press the
External Trigger
(
F4
). For details, see
How Do I Change Generator Information?
.
-
Set the
CDMA System Time (Date)
and
CDMA System Time (Time)
as desired. For detailed procedure, see
How Do I Change CDMA System Time Parameters?
).
Step 2: Configure the Sync Client
-
Press the
CALL SETUP
key.
-
Verify that the
Operating Mode
(
F1
) is set to
Active Cell
and
System Type
(
F2
) is set to
IS-2000
for this example.
-
Make sure that test set is in idle state.
-
Press the

Press
Cell Info
(
F2
) key.
-
Press
CDMA System Time/Sync Info
(
F5
) key.

-
Set the
Ext 8960 IP Add
r (
F2
) to the same value of the
LAN IP Address
of the Sync Server that you have set in
Step 1: Configure the Sync Server
.
Step 3: Perform the synchronization between two test sets
-
On the test set that acts as Sync Client, press the
Sync To External Server
(
F3
) which initiates the synchronization.
-
The synchronization takes 2-4 seconds. Once the synchronization successfully completes, the CDMA system time on the sync client is same as that of the sync server. Observe the CDMA System Time and Synchronization Information on both test sets, a typical display on the Sync Client and the Sync Server is shown below.
