Data Counters
Last updated: June 20, 2006
This section is only applicable to the lab application.
When a packet data connection is established (see
How Do I Originate a Packet Data Connection From My Wireless Device?
), the test set keeps a count of the number of Radio Link Protocol (RLP) frames and Internet Protocol (IP) data units that are transferred on both the forward (network to wireless device) and reverse (wireless device to network) directions. The recorded information is displayed on the Counters table and the RLP Counters Info table.
Counters
The Counters table provides the following information:
-
IP Pkts and IP Bytes for Fwd Data (MS RX): indicates the number of IP packets and bytes transferred from the test set to the wireless device. When IP counters reach their maximum value, they remain at that value until cleared.
-
IP Pkts and IP Bytes for Rvs Data (MS TX): indicates the number of IP packets and bytes transferred from the wireless device to the test set. When IP counters reach their maximum value, they remain at that value until cleared.
-
RLP Frames and RLP Octets for Fwd Data (MS RX): indicates the total number of RLP frames and octets transferred from the test set to the wireless device. When RLP counters reach their maximum value, they automatically reset to zero and resume the count.
-
RLP Frames and RLP Octets for Rvs Data (MS TX): indicates the total number of RLP frames and octets transferred from the wireless device to the test set. When RLP counters reach their maximum value, they automatically reset to zero and resume the count.
To Clear the Counters
All counters shown in this table will be cleared when the
Clear All Counters
(
F3
) key is pressed or the test set performs a power-up or full preset.
RLP Counters Information
The RLP Counters Info table provides more detailed information including:
-
RLP Control Frames (including SYNC frames, SYNC/ACK frames, ACK frames and NAK frames)
-
RLP data frames (including New frames, New octets, Retransmitted frames, Retransmitted Octets, NAKked frames and NAKked segments)
-
RLP Fill Frames
-
RLP Idle Frames
-
Unclassified Frames (including Error frames and Unknown frames)
To Clear the RLP Counters
All counters shown in this table will be cleared when the
Clear RLP Counters
(
F3
) key is pressed or the test set performs a power-up or full preset. When the RLP counters reach their maximum value, they automatically reset to zero and resume the count.
