Testing 3.4.7 Demodulation of Forward Traffic Channel in Multipath Fading Channel with Closed Loop Power Control (FPC_MODE = '000')
This test requires faded signals with AWGN, which the test set must be equipped with a rear panel digital bus connecting to an external PC running Baseband Studio software. See
Digital Bus Information
for details.
This test examines the performance of forward power control by measuring the differences between the mobile station's received FER and the assigned target FER while not exceeding the specified Traffic Eb/Nt limits. This test will be performed on F-FCH (20 ms frame). The test set does not support tests on F-DCCH.
To perform the tests as specified in the standard, follow the procedures as describe in the
General Procedure for FPC Operation (FPC_Mode 000)
and change some settings per standard requirements. An example settings required for test 4 of 3.4.7 test is given in

On the external channel simulator,
-
Set the multi-path fading simulation as specified in standard channel simulator configuration 3.
-
Set the external AWGN to -59 dBm/1.23 MHz.

This test examines the performance of slow power control (outer loop power control) by checking the average Traffic Eb/Nt at the test set under a given frame error constraint and channel simulator configuration. This test will be performed on F-FCH (20 ms frame) in FPC mode 000. The test set does not support tests on F-DCCH
To perform the tests as specified in the standard, follow the procedures as described in the
