How Do I Perform EIB Test (FPC Mode 011)?

This section is only applicable to the lab application.
Step 1: Access Forward Power Control menus

Press the
Call Setup
key.

Press the left-side of
More
key until the
Call Control 4 of 4
menu is displayed.

Select the
Forward Power Control
(
F2
). The FPC Info menu is displayed and all of the parameters and operations relating to forward power control can be accessed.
Step 2: Set up FPC Mode
-
On
FPC Info 1 of 2
, press the
F3
(
FPC Mode
).
-
Set the FPC Mode to
011-EIB
.
Step 3: Establish a call
-
Establish a call in radio configuration (Fwd3, Rvs3) or above with loopback service option (such as SO2, 9, or 55). See
How Do I Set Up a Call?
for detailed procedure.
Step 4: Set up F-FCH Frame Pattern

Press the right-side of
More
key until the
Call Parms 4 of 4
menu is displayed.

On
Call Parms 4 of 4
, press the
F9
(
F-FCH Frame Pattern Setup
).
-
On the
F-FCH/Traffic Frame Pattern Setup
menu, set the following parameters as desired. For example,

Set the
F-FCH/Traffic Frame Pattern Good Frames
to
50
(or other values as desired).
-
Set the
F-FCH/Traffic Frame Pattern Bad Frames
to
50
(or other values as desired).
-
Set the
Signaling Frame Quality
to
Good-Ignore Frame Pattern
.
-
Set the
F-FCH/Traffic Frame Pattern State
to
On
.

Press the
F6
(
Close Menu
).
The test set starts to send a sequence of good and bad frames (alternating 50 good and 50 bad 20 ms frames in this example) to the mobile station on the F-FCH.
It is expected there is no signaling message sent during forward power control EIB test. Otherwise, the
Signaling Frame Quality
setting may have impact on the EIB test result. See
Signaling Frame Quality
for details.
Step 4: Start the EIB test

FPC Info 1 of 2
, press the
F5

Start EIB Counters
). The test set starts to check the received EIBs reported from the mobile station against the corresponding frames sent from the test set to the mobile station and keep a record of matched/not matched/not received good/bad frames).
Step 5: Observe the MS Reported EIB results
-
Observe the MS Reported Erasure Indicator Bit (EIB) Information window and verify how many good/bad frames sent from the test set are matched with the frames received by the mobile station base on the MS reported EIBs. See

for details.

(Optional) Change the Cell 1 Power, or add the AWGN power, you will see the number of not matched frames may increase.
Step 6: Stop the EIB test

On
FPC Info 1 of 2
, press the
F5
(
Stop EIB Counters
). The test set stops to record the matched/not matched/not received good/bad frames.
Step 7: (Optional) Clear the EIB Counters
-
To clear the EIB test results shown on the MS Reported Erasure Indicator Bit (EIB) Information window:

Clear EIB Counters
).
