How Do I Originate a Packet Data Connection From My Wireless Device?
Last updated: October 28, 2004
This section is only applicable to the lab application.
An SO33 or SO33 (+ F-SCH) call enables high speed packet data transfer.
Establishing the Data Connection
-
Connect the test set's rear panel LAN PORT to a LAN or a PC running a server application. (See
Data Channel Applications
)
-
Connect a web enabled wireless device to the test set's front panel RF IN/OUT connector. If the wireless device is functioning as a modem in your test setup and a PC will be running the web browser, connect the wireless device to a PC. See
Data Channel Applications
.
-
Set up the test set such as Cell Band, Channel, SID, etc. for your wireless devices if required.
-
Select SO33 or SO33 (+F-SCH) in the FCH Service Option Setup menu (Call Parms 1 of 4,
F12
).
-
Enter the mobile station IP address (See
How Do I Set Up Data Channel Parameters?
).
-
Turn on power to the mobile station.
-
After the mobile station finds service, navigate to the web browser on the wireless device or a PC using wireless device as modem. Using the web browser, attempt to access a web site on the PC running a server application.
-
The Active Cell status area should show Connected + Data (see
Packet Data Connection Processing States
) indicating a successful packet data connection. Observe the wireless device display, the RLP counters (see
How Do I Access the Data Counters?
) as well as the Data Throughout Monitor screen (
Data Throughput Monitor
) to evaluate your mobile station data application performance as data is transferred.
