How Do I Perform Multi-Unit Synchronization?

This section is only applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

Multiple Sync Clients can synchronize to the same Sync Server at the same time. The following procedure provides an example of how to make a synchronization between two test sets. It assumes that the test set running the E6702B cdma2000 lab application acts as a Sync Client and another one running the E6706A 1xEV-DO lab application acts as a Sync Server.

Prior to the following procedure, make sure you have finished the synchronization connection between the two test sets (see Synchronization Connection Setup ).

General Procedure

Step 1: Configure the Sync Server

Step 3: Perform the synchronization between two test sets

Step 1: Configure the Sync Server

  1. Press the SYSTEM CONFIG key.
  2. Press the Instrument Setup (F1) key and set up the LAN IP Address if it is empty.
  3. Press the CALL SETUP key.
  4. Verify that the Operating Mode ( F1 ) is set to Active Cell and System Type ( F2 ) is set to IS-2000 for this example.
  5. Verify the External Trigger is set to 2 s.

    Go to Call Control 2 of 5 (Lab Application) or Call Control 2 of 3 (Test Application), press the Generator Info ( F3 ), and then press the External Trigger ( F4 ). For details, see How Do I Change Generator Information? .

  6. Press the More key until Call Control 2 of 5 (Lab Application) or Call Control 2 of 3 (Test Application) is displayed.
  7. Press Cell Info ( F2 ) key.
  8. Press CDMA System Time/Sync Info ( F5 ) key.
  9. Press CDMA System Time Parms ( F1 ) key.
  10. Set CDMA system time parameters by using the knob and DATA ENTRY keys.

Step 2: Configure the Sync Client

  1. Press the CALL SETUP key.
  2. Verify that the Operating Mode ( F1 ) is set to Active Cell or and System Type is set to IS-2000 ( F2 ) for this example.
  3. Make sure that test set is idle state.
  4. Press the More key until Call Control 2 of 5 (Lab Application) or Call Control 2 of 3 (Test Application) is displayed.
  5. Press Cell Info ( F2 ) key.
  6. Press CDMA System Time/Sync Info ( F5 ) key.
  7. Press Clear Sync Indications ( F4 ) to clear the last synchronization event information.
  8. Press Ext 8960 IP Add r ( F2 ) key and input the number with DATA ENTRY keys to set the external Sync Server's IP address.

Step 3: Perform the synchronization between two test sets

  1. Press Sync To External Server ( F3 ) on the test set that acts as Sync Client to initiates the synchronization.
  2. A typical synchronization result on the Sync Client and the Sync Server is shown below.
  3. After finishing the synchronization:
    • If desired, press Return key ( F6 ) on the left side of display to close the CDMA System Time and Synchronization Information window.
