Paging Channel Message Error Rate (MER) Troubleshooting

Last updated: October 28, 2004

This section is only applicable to the lab application.

Possible Setup Issues

  • It's recommended that you strictly follow the procedures described in the Paging Channel MER Procedures to ensure valid results. If you vary the test procedure, you may get the unexpected results.
  • It is recommended that you set up the parameters associated with the Paging MER test prior to initiating the MER test procedure. The test set provides a warning message if key settings are changed during the test. However, the test set does not block the changes or cause the MER test procedure to be aborted
  • Starting the MER procedure is executed when a call is established since the Set Parameter Message (STPM) is delivered on the traffic channel.

  • Stoping the MER procedure is executed when a call is established since the Retrieve Parameters Message (RTPM) and Parameters Response Message (PRSM) are delivered on the traffic channel

  • MER Proc Warning ( CALL:STATus:PAGing:MERRor:PROCedure:WARNing? ) indicates error or warning conditions that have occurred during the Paging MER test procedure. These conditions will result in the Paging MER results non-available or invalid at the completion of the test. It's provided to aid in understanding the Paging MER results when they are non-available and to indicate when the results may be questionable.
