Active Cell Operating Mode

Last updated: March 9, 2005

Active Cell mode is the test set's default operating mode, and is used to emulate a base station transceiver in a real network. Over-the-air signaling between the mobile station and the base station emulator is used for call origination, handoffs, and other operations that simulate in-service mobile interaction.

When Active Cell is selected, and a call is connected, the test set is able to automatically handle most operations required for measurements such as demodulation of the reverse channel, tuning to the correct frequency, adjusting the receiver for the expected power from the mobile station, and automatically triggering on events related to signaling protocol. Measurements can be selected by pressing the Measurement selection hardkey.

To select an operating mode for test set, see Selecting an Operating Mode .
