Voice SO mode determines the source of traffic data to be sent on the forward traffic channel (F-Traffic) (for IS-95 system) or the forward fundamental channel (F-FCH) (for IS-2000 system) to the mobile station (MS) when any of the voice service options (SO1, SO3, SO17, SO68, SO70 and SO32768) (see Service Option ) is active.

If the current service option is other than voice service options (SO1, SO3, SO17, SO68, SO70 and SO32768), the setting of the Voice SO mode will be stored and applied when a voice service option is active.

Description

Voice echo

In echo mode the test set sends on the F-Traffic/F-FCH a copy of the frames it receives on the R-Traffic/R-FCH. This is referred to as "echo" mode since the sound captured by the mobile station's microphone are sent to the test set and then returned to the MS to be produced in the MS's speaker. The delay between the receipt of a frame on the R-FCH and its subsequent retransmission on the F-FCH can be set by the Echo Delay (see CALL[:CELL[1]]:TRAFfic[:FORWard]:SOURce:ECHO ).

400 Hz tone

This selection causes a vocoded 400 Hz tone to be sent on the F-Traffic/F-FCH to the MS.

1 KHz tone

This selection causes a vocoded 1 kHz tone to be sent on the F-Traffic/F-FCH to the MS.

Swept audio

This selection causes a vocoded repeatedly swept tone rising from 0 Hz to 3.0 kHz over 3 seconds to be sent on the F-Traffic/F-FCH to the MS. It is intended to be used for functional test and not as a portion of any audio quality tests.

Multi-Tone

This selection is used to generate multiple audio tones simultaneously. It is used in conjunction with the multi-tone audio measurement while operating in downlink audio mode. This causes downlink audio generator tones to be encoded and gets placed on the F-Traffic/F-FCH channels. See Downlink Audio Mode for details.

Real-Time Vocoder

In real-time vocoder mode, the test set real-timely encodes the analog audio signal applied at the test set's AUDIO IN connector using the appropriate vocoder algorithm (depending upon the selected voice service option) and then sends the encoded audio frames to the mobile station on the F-Traffic/F-FCH. Also, the test set can simultaneously decodes the encoded audio frames that is received on the R-Traffic/R-FCH using the appropriate vocoder algorithm (depending upon the selected voice service option) and then converts to an analog signal output at the test set's AUDIO OUT connector. PESQ

This selection is used to generate the speech signal which complies with the ITU-T P.862 standard and is used by the Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) measurement to test the voice quality of the mobile phone. Null Frames

This selection causes minimal energy frames to be sent on the F-Traffic/F-FCH. It is intended to be used with the multi-tone audio measurement while operating in uplink audio mode. See Uplink Audio Mode for details.
