Measuring TX Dynamic Power

 Last updated: October 28, 2004

 General Procedure

NOTE
Channel power calibration should be performed if the test set is being used for the first time or the operating environment has changed significantly since the last calibration was performed. The channel power calibration also calibrates the TX dynamic power measurement. See Calibrating the Test Set for details.

NOTE
The measurement is expected to only be used when Call Connection status is Idle since the mobile station must be in a test mode, otherwise it may not produce meaningful results.

  1.
  2. Connect the mobile station's antenna output to the test set's front panel RF IN/OUT connector and power it on.
  3.  Place your mobile station in the test mode required for performing TX dynamic power. The mobile station should be set to transmit initial power at its maximum transmit power at the appropriate frequency for the test.
  4.  Press the blue SHIFT key and then the green Preset key to full reset the test set.
  5.  Set test set's receiver power control to Manual mode and set the test set's Manual Receiver Power and Meas Frequency (see How Do I Change Test Set's Receiver Control Parameters? ) to the initial power level and frequency at which the mobile station will transmit. (It should be the maximum power the mobile station will transmit)
  6.  Initialize the measurement:
    •
    • Press the Measurement selection key.
    •  Turn the knob to highlight the TX Dynamic Power measurement and press the knob.

      IMPORTANT
The TX dynamic power measurement does not run concurrently with any other measurements. If any measurements are running, they are closed when TX dynamic power measurement is initiated, and a message is displayed indicating that a measurement has been closed. Activating another measurement inactivates the TX dynamic power measurement.

      IMPORTANT
If the TX dynamic power measurement is running at the time the power control transient transmission starts (see Starting the Reverse CLPC Transient ) the measurement will be closed and its operation aborted. Moreover, the TX dynamic power measurement will not be able to start (become initiated) while the transient transmission is in progress.
