Time Response of Open Loop Power Control (TROLPC) Troubleshooting
Last updated: October 28, 2004
Possible Setup Issues
No other measurements can be running while the TROLPC measurement is active. If any measurements are running, they are closed when TROLPC is initiated, and a message is displayed indicating that a measurement has been closed. Activating another measurement inactivates the TROLPC measurement.
If the TROLP measurement is running at the time the power control transient transmission starts (see
Starting the Reverse CLPC Transient
) the measurement will be closed and its operation aborted. Moreover, the TROLP measurements can not be initiated while the transient transmission is in progress.
For the lab application, the TROLPC measurement can not be initiated when the mobile station is in gated transmission on the R-FCH (see
Operating Considerations
).
The following settings are required for the TROLPC measurement:
-
A call must be connected in loopback service option with full data rate.
-
The Cell Power setting must allow for 20 dB of cell power adjustment before the step up or down occurs. The range of Cell Power adjustment is affected by amplitude offsets. See
CALL[:CELL[1]]:POWer:AMPLitude[:SELected]
for a description of Cell Power range issues.
-
Cell power must be at least 20 dB below the maximum cell power level to perform a TROLPC measurement with a +20 dB step change in cell power. Cell power must be at least 20 dB above the minimum cell power level to perform a TROLPC measurement with a -20 dB step change in cell power. The cell power range is affected by amplitude offsets (see
Cell Power, AWGN Power and Total RF Power Ranges
).
-
AWGN power must be off (see
Cell Power, AWGN Power and Total RF Power Ranges
).
-
Receiver power must be set to auto (see
Receiver Control
).
-
During remote operation of this measurement, you must specify the cell power step change direction using the
SETup:TROPower:STEP
command, and then start the measurement using either the
INITiate<:measurement mnemonic>[:ON]
or
READ:TROPower[:ALL]?
command. During manual operation, you must select either
Start Meas Up
(
F2
) or
Start Meas Down
(
F3
), or press the
START SINGLE
key to trigger each measurement. Each time you start the measurement, one 20 dB step change is performed.
Troubleshooting Techniques
-
Check to see if an integrity indicator other than 0 (normal) was returned with a measurement result (see
Integrity Indicator
).
If over range (5) is returned the input power has exceeded the test set's internal sampler maximum value during some part of the sampling or the input power has exceeded the calibrated range of the test set's power detector.
If under range (6) is returned the measurement result is below the expected input power level. Under range is also indicated if the input power is below the calibrated range of the test set's power detector.
If the signal has both over range and under range conditions, only the over range (5) will be indicated.
