Getting Started with Call Processing

Last updated: December 2, 2008

Most of the information in the Call Processing section describes the features and functionality available while in Active Cell Operating Mode and one of the Test Mode Operating Modes . While in these modes, the test set includes a base station emulator which allows you to establish a connection between the test set and your wireless device (with signaling while in Active Cell Operating Mode or by the device synchronizing to the downlink while in a test mode operating mode).

The base station emulator can be configured by changing various parameters. Most of these parameters are described at the following links: Cell Operation , Cell Parameters , Cell Identification Parameters , Cell Lists , Configuring the Broadcast Channel (BCH) , Configuring the Traffic Channel (TCH) Parameters , Configuring the Packet Data Traffic Channel (PDTCH) , and Receiver Control . To find information on a specific parameter, you can also use the search field at the top of this page to search the contents of the guide.

For more details on establishing a call in Active Cell operating mode, see Call Processing Ladder Diagrams and How Do I Set Up a Call? .

You can perform other call processing operations such as Calling Party Number Parameters , Short Message Service (SMS) , Measurement Reports , Dual Transfer Mode , and Two-Cell Test System .
