How Do I Assign Different Modulation Coding Schemes / Puncturing Schemes to Each Downlink of a Multislot Burst?

This section is only applicable when the test set's operating mode is EGPRS BCH+PDTCH or EGPRS BCH+PDTCH+TCH .

This section details how to:

Assign MCS / PS to Each Downlink of a Multislot Burst

  1. Press CALL SETUP
  2. Press Operating Mode ( F1 )
  3. Select EGPRS BCH+PDTCH from the Operating Mode popup menu.
  4. Press PDTCH Parameters ( F9 )
  5. Press More on the bottom right of the screen so that 2 of 3 is displayed.
  6. Press Multislot Config ( F7 )
  7. Choose a multislot configuration from the Multislot Config menu. The figure below shows a portion of the Multislot Config menu. The gray entries are unsupported. Note: If you set the EGPRS Data Rate Configuration to All , the entries in the Multislot Config menu change, see Gain Access to All EGPRS Data Rate Configurations .
  8. Press More on the bottom right of the screen so that 1 of 3 is displayed.
  9. Press MCS / PS ( F11 )
  10. Select a Modulation Coding Scheme / Puncturing Scheme (MCS / PS) for each downlink burst of the multislot configuration you selected in step seven. The figure below shows how the MCS/PS menu appears when the selected multislot configuration contains two downlink bursts.

Gain Access to All EGPRS Data Rate Configurations

  1. Follow steps 1-4 of Assign MCS / PS to Each Downlink of a Multislot Burst .
  2. Press MCS / PS ( F11 )
  3. Highlight the Data Rate Configuration parameter in the MCS / PS menu.
  4. Choose which configuration you want from the Configs Available menu. Notice if you choose All, when you push the knob the test set displays a warning that states, " Warning; Not all EGPRS data rate configurations are supported ". Press CANCEL to make this warning disappear.
  5. Follow steps 5-10 of Assign MCS / PS to Each Downlink of a Multislot Burst to assign an MCS/PS for each downlink of a multislot burst or press Close Menu ( F6 ).
