How do I change the Downlink TBF Puncturing Scheme?

Last updated: December 2, 2008

This section is only applicable to the EGPRS lab application.

  1. Press the CALL SETUP key.
  2. Press Operating Mode ( F1 ) and select Active Cell (EGPRS) .
  3. Select PDTCH Parameters ( F9 ) from the Call Parms menu.
  4. Select Modulation Coding Scheme ( F11 ) from the PDTCH Parms menu. The Modulation Coding Scheme popup menu appears.
  5. Select either Downlink Modulation Coding Scheme or Uplink Modulation Coding Scheme and set the value you want. The modulation format is different depending on the MCS you select:
    • MCS-1 through MCS-4 use a GMSK modulation format.
    • MCS-5 through MCS-9 use an 8PSK modulation format.
  6. Select Puncturing Scheme and scroll to the desired value. The puncturing schemes available depend on the modulation and coding scheme you selected above.
    • MCS-1, MCS-2, MCS-5, and MCS-6 allow PS 1 and PS 2.
    • MCS-3, MCS-4, MCS-7, MCS-8, and MCS-9 allow PS 1, PS 2, and PS 3.

The Incremental Redundancy parameter must be set to Off for you to specify which puncturing scheme is to be used. When Incremental Redundancy is On , the puncturing scheme setting is controlled by an algorithm in the test set.
