How Do I use Mobile Calculated BER Test

This section is only applicable to the lab applications and the GSM/EGPRS test applications with the required feature license.

How to use Mobile Calculated BER on TCH

Press CALL SETUP .
Press Operating Mode (F1 ) and set the operating mode to GSM BCH+TCH.
Press TCH Parameters ( F8 ).
Press Channel Mode Setup ( F11 ).
Press Channel Mode Config ( F7 ). The Channel Mode Configuration menu is displayed. Set the Logical Speech Channel to FS (Full) or EFS (Enhanced Full).
Set the TCH Clearcoded State to ON.
- To change the state of TCH ClearCoded, you must first set the Speech Source to PRBS-9, PR BS-15 or Custom. Notice when the Speech Source is not set to above values the table entry is gray. the steps below are how to set the Speech Source
Press TCH Parameters
Press the right More key until screen 2 of 3 is displayed.
Press Speech Setup ( F10 ). This displayed the Speech Setup menu.
Set the Speech Source to PRBS-9, PRBS-15 or Custom.

Press CALL SETUP .
Press Operating Mode (F1 ) and set the operating mode to EGPRS BCH+PDTCH.
Press PDTCH Parameters (F9 ).
Press the right More key until screen 2 of 2 is displayed.
Press Multislot Config ( F7). This displayed the Multislot Config menu
Use the knob to highlight the parameter and to change the parameter setting.
Press Return (F12 ).
Press PDTCH Parameters (F9 ).
Press MCS/PS (F11 ). This displayed the MCS/PS menu.
Set the EGPRS Test Mode Payload Mapping to Multi Source, ClearCoded.
Press Return (F12 ).
Press the left More key until screen 2 of 2 is displayed.
Press Protocol Control ( F4 ).
Press LLC ( F3 ).
Press Payload Pattern Setup ( F2), this displayed the Payload Pattern menu.
Use the knob to highlight the parameter and to change the Multi Source Payload Pattern (Other) setting.
