Network Identity and Time Zone

This section is only applicable to the lab applications.
The test set provide Network Identity and Time Zone (NITZ) information in the MM and GMM Information messages such that the mobile can store and use the information. The NITZ information including universal time (UT), daylight saving time (DST), and local time zone (LTZ).

NITZ Configurable Parameters
The test set sends the NITZ information in each of the following conditions:

GPRS registration (GPRS Attach and Routing Area Update)

GPRS PDP activation and Point-to-Point SMS over GPRS

GSM registration (IMSI Attach and Location Updating)

GSM call origination (voice, emergency call and CSD) and Point-to-Point SMS over GSM

At any time `NITZ Send Immediate' initiated in valid data connection type and connection states.
You can configure the NITZ parameters in the test set to control in which conditions the NITZ information is sent. The following table lists all the NITZ parameters that are configurable in the test set.

The following procedure details how to access and use the NITZ feature.

Operating Considerations
The NITZ functionality is only available in the
Active Cell
operating mode.
When the NITZ information is sent via the MM and GMM Information messages, the `Universal time and local time zone' IE is always included. The `Network Daylight Saving Time' IE is only included when the `NITZ Daylight Saving Time Include State' parameter is set to
ON
