Getting Started with Call Processing

Last updated: January 15, 2009

Most of the information in the Call Processing section describes the features and functionality available while in Active Cell Operating Mode and FDD Test Operating Mode . While in these modes, the test set includes a base station emulator which allows you to establish a connection between the test set and your wireless device (with signalling when in Active Cell Operating Mode or by the device synchronizing to the downlink when in FDD Test Mode ).

The base station emulator can be configured by changing various parameters. Most of these parameters are described at the following links: Cell Parameters , Downlink Channel Codes and Levels , Cell Power and AWGN Power , Uplink Parameters , and Security Information . To find information on a specific parameter, you can also use the search field at the top of this page to search the contents of this guide.

For more details on establishing a call in Active Cell Operating Mode , see Current Service Type , Call Processing Status , and Establishing a Connection with the UE .

You can perform many other call processing operations, such as "Handovers" on page 1 , UE Reported Measurements , Compressed Mode , Calling Party Number Parameters , Short Message Service (SMS) , and Video Call .

For general technology information to help you become more familiar with the W-CDMA system, see W-CDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA Concepts .

For details about to which revisions of the 3GPP specifications the test set is compliant, see 3GPP Compliance .
