Phase Discontinuity Troubleshooting
Last updated: January 16, 2009
Possible Setup Issues
-
In
Active Cell Operating Mode
, you must be on a call before initiating the measurement.
-
This measurement is not supported on HSPA connections.
-
When on a non-HSDPA call,
Trigger Source
must be set to
Protocol
or
External
. When on an HSDPA call (
lab application or feature-licensed test application only
),
Trigger Source
must be set to
HS-DPCCH
.
-
In
FDD Test Operating Mode
, you must ensure that the UE is synchronized to the downlink frame clock before running the measurement.
-
During front panel operation of this measurement, you must press the
START SINGLE
key to initiate the measurement.
-
Ensure that you have met the
Phase Discontinuity Measurement Input Signal Requirements
.
-
Before performing a phase discontinuity measurement, ensure that the measurement has been properly calibrated (see
Calibrating the Test Set
).
Other Considerations
-
No other measurements can be running when a phase discontinuity measurement is performed. If any measurements are running when a phase discontinuity measurement is initiated, they are closed and a message is displayed to indicate that they were closed.
-
When
Trigger Source
is set to
HS-DPCCH
(
lab application or feature-licensed test application only
), when the measurement is initiated the test set checks to see that
UL CL Power Ctrl Algorithm
is set to
Two
and
UL CL Power Ctrl Stepsize
is set to
1 dB
. If not, the test set sends the UE a Physical Channel Reconfiguration message with these values.
-
When
Power Control Pattern
is set to
5UP/4DOWN
,
5DOWN/4UP
,
18 UP
or
18 DOWN
, when the measurement is initiated the test set checks to see that
UL CL Power Ctrl Algorithm
is set to
One
and
UL CL Power Ctrl Stepsize
is set to
1 dB
. If not, the test set sends the UE a Physical Channel Reconfiguration message with these values.
-
Absolute measurement results are affected by any amplitude offsets that are entered (relative measurement results are not). See
Amplitude Offset
.
-
The sum of
HS-DPCCH Trigger Subslot Alignment
and
HS-DPCCH Measurement Step Interval
cannot exceed 1.0 slot (
lab application or feature-licensed test application only
).
-
The
Phase (in degrees)
result is always zero for step 0, the first step measured (the
Reference Timeslot
for non-HSDPA phase discontinuity).
-
No
Phase Discontinuity (in degrees)
result is reported for step 0, the first step measured (the
Reference Timeslot
for non-HSDPA phase discontinuity).
-
When
Power Control Pattern
is set to
5UP/4DOWN
,
5DOWN/4UP
,
18 UP
or
18 DOWN
, when the measurement completes, in an attempt to maintain the connection with the UE, the test set sets
UE Target Power
to the UE's output power in the final measured slot and sets
UL CL Power Control Mode
to
Active Bits
when in
Active Cell Operating Mode
or to
Alternating Bits
when in
FDD Test Operating Mode
.
-
While on a faded channel (see
Digital Bus Information
), the measurement will only return valid results if
Trigger Source
is set to
External
.
