Traffic Data Rate

Traffic Data Rate

Last updated: November 28, 2010

The traffic data rate determines the rate used on the fundamental channel (FCH) (for IS-2000 system) and traffic channel (IS-95 system) when a call is established in a loopback (with service options SO2, SO9, or SO55) (see Service Option ). It can be changed at any time.

To configure the data rate for supplemental channel (SCH), see Configuring the TDSO Supplemental Channel Information .

Random (40% Voice Activity)

Random (40% Voice Activity) is used to simulate a typical usage of mobile station with 40% voice activity, which 40% of the transmitted frames carry voice data at greater than eighth data rate. To simulate 40% voice activity, the data is sent at random rate but the distribution is controlled such that 28% of the time is at full rate, 6% of the time is at half rate, 6% of the time is at quarter rate, and remaining 60% of the time is at eighth rate. The Random (40% Voice Activity) data rate setting is useful for MS's talk time test in R-FCH gating mode (see R-FCH Gating ).

When Random (40% Voice Activity) traffic data rate is selected, the test set will use fixed ranging, and range the receiver to Half rate expected power.(see Reverse Traffic Channel Data Rate Determination ).

EVRC-B Random (40% Voice)

EVRC-B Random (40% Voice Activity) is used to simulate a EVRC-B SO73 call with 40% activity, which 40% of the transmitted frames carry voice data at greater than eighth data rate. To simulate 40% voice activity, the data is sent at random rate but the distribution is controlled such that 14% of the time is at full rate, 6% of the time is at half rate, 20% of the time is at quarter rate, and remaining 60% of the time is at eighth rate.

When EVRC-B Random (40% Voice) traffic data rate is selected, the test set will use fixed ranging, and range the receiver to Half rate expected power.(see Reverse Traffic Channel Data Rate Determination )
