The traffic data rate determines the rate used on the fundamental channel (FCH) (for IS-2000 system) and traffic channel (IS-95 system) when a call is established in a loopback (with service options SO2, SO9, or SO55) (see Service Option ). It can be changed at any time.

| Random (40% Voice Activity) |
Random (40% Voice Activity) is used to simulate a typical usage of mobile station with 40% voice activity, which 40% of the transmitted frames carry voice data at greater than eighth data rate. To simulate 40% voice activity, the data is sent at random rate but the distribution is controlled such that 28% of the time is at full rate, 6% of the time is at half rate, 6% of the time is at quarter rate, and remaining 60% of the time is at eighth rate. The Random (40% Voice Activity) data rate setting is useful for MS's talk time test in R-FCH gating mode (see R-FCH Gating ). When Random (40% Voice Activity) traffic data rate is selected, the test set will use fixed ranging, and range the receiver to Half rate expected power.(see Reverse Traffic Channel Data Rate Determination ). |

EVRC-B Random (40% Voice Activity) is used to simulate a EVRC-B SO73 call with 40% activity, which 40% of the transmitted frames carry voice data at greater than eighth data rate. To simulate 40% voice activity, the data is sent at random rate but the distribution is controlled such that 14% of the time is at full rate, 6% of the time is at half rate, 20% of the time is at quarter rate, and remaining 60% of the time is at eighth rate. When EVRC-B Random (40% Voice) traffic data rate is selected, the test set will use fixed ranging, and range the receiver to Half rate expected power.(see Reverse Traffic Channel Data Rate Determination ) |
