How Do I Perform a Handover?

This section assumes the BCH parameter for Cell Band is set up correctly for your mobile station and the appropriate RF IN/OUT Amplitude Offsets have been set to offset the mobile station and the test set. For more information see How Do I Configure the Test Set for My Test System? .

  1. If you would like a log of the protocol messages exchanged between the test set and the mobile station, use the Wireless Protocol Advisor (WPA). For more information see How to use Protocol Logging .
  2. Press the CALL SETUP key.
  3. Select Operating Mode ( F1 ) and choose Active Cell with a desired Serving Cell ( GSM , GPRS , or EGPRS ).
  4. Start a voice or data connection with the test set.
  5. Press the Handover Parameters ( F10 ) key.
  6. To perform a handover on a GSM call, press GSM Handover Setup ( F7 ). To perform a handover with a GPRS data connection, press GPRS Handover Setup ( F8 ).
  7. Change the various parameters, for example, for a GSM handover, you can change the Traffic Band .
  8. Press the Handover Execute ( F5 ) key to complete the handover, or press the Close Menu ( F6 ) key to abort the handover.
  9. Check the Active Cell field for Connected if you made a GSM Handover, or Transferring if you made a GPRS Handover.
