How to use the Digital Audio Interface Features

This section is only applicable to lab applications and the test application with a required feature license.

This section describes general procedures for performing the Digital Audio Interface (DAI) Test from the test set's front panel.

How to record the Digital Audio Interface (DAI) File

  1. Connect the mobile station to the test set using a suitable RF connector and adaptor and connect the mobile station to the Customer test station using a suitable LAN cable.
  2. Power on the mobile station, the test set and the mobile station.
  3. Configure the DAI test mode.
    1. Press Call Setup .
    2. Press TCH Parameters ( F8 ).
    3. Press the More key until screen 2 of 3 of the TCH Parameters menu is displayed.
    4. Press Internal Test Loops ( F9 ).
    5. Press DAI Setup ( F8 ) and the DAI Setup menu appears in the center of the screen as shown in the figure below. Use the knob to select Speech Decoder. This results in the test set sending a Layer 3 message to the Mobile Station to inform it to accept the digital audio files from the test set.
  4. Select the Logical Speech Channel that is to be tested.
    1. Press Call Setup .
    2. Press TCH Parameters ( F8 ).
    3. Press Channel Mode Setup ( F11 ).
    4. Press Channel Mode Config ( F7 ) and the Channel Mode Configuration is displayed. Use the knob to highlight the Logical Speech Channel and select the desired Logical Speech Channel from the list.
  5. Start a voice call between the test set and the DUT.

    You can establish a Mobile Terminated Call by:

    1. Press Call Setup
    2. Press Originate Call ( F3 )
    3. Press the button on the mobile station that answers the call.

    Or you can establish a Mobile Originated Call by dialing a number on the mobile station and pressing the button on the mobile station that sends a call.

  6. Command the test set to start recording the digital audio file (COD/DEC reference file).
    1. Press Call Setup
    2. Press the More key until screen 3 of 3 of the Control menu is displayed.
    3. Press Digital Audio Interface ( F1 ), The following screen is displayed.

    4. Press AMR Recording Format ( F3 ), set the Recording Format.
    5. Press Start COD Record ( F2 ), notice that the softkey changes to Stop COD Record after the press.

    Note that 2MB limit is reached as the buffer indicator reaches 100%.

  7. Press Stop COD Record ( F2 ) when the COD record finished.
  8. Download the digital audio file using the DAI File Manager.

How to play the Digital Audio Interface (DAI) File

  1. Connect the mobile station to the test set using a suitable RF connector and adaptor and connect the mobile station to the Customer test station using a suitable LAN cable.
  2. Power on the mobile station, the test set and the mobile station.
  3. Select the Logical Speech Channel that is to be tested.
    1. Press Call Setup .
    2. Press TCH Parameters ( F8 ).
    3. Press Channel Mode Setup ( F11 ).
    4. Press Channel Mode Config ( F7 ) and the Channel Mode Configuration is displayed. Use the knob to highlight the Logical Speech Channel and select the desired Logical Speech Channel from the list.
  4. Upload the digital audio file using the DAI File Manager.
  5. Start a voice call between the test set and the DUT.

    1. Press Call Setup.
    2. Press the More key until screen 3 of 3 of the Control menu is displayed.
    3. Press Digital Audio Interface ( F1 ), The following screen is displayed.

    4. Press Start COD Play ( F1 ).
