GPIB Command Conventions

CALL[:CELL]:IATTach[:STATe]?

Function

GSM TA

This command sets/queries the state of the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) Attach flag. If the location area when the mobile station is powered on is the same as when it last detached from the network, then the IMSI Attach flag state is used by the mobile station to determine whether or not it should perform an IMSI Attach procedure when the mobile station is powered on. Otherwise, if the location area is different from the previous location area, a location area update procedure is performed regardless of the IMSI ATTach flag state.

The IMSI Attach flag state is also used to determine whether or not the mobile station is required perform the IMSI Detach procedure.

The state of the IMSI Attach flag is not operating mode specific, therefore if the state is changed in any operating mode, the change will be reflected in all other operating modes. Although the IMSI Attach state can be varied in any operating mode, it is only applicable in Active Cell (serving cell GSM, GPRS or EGPRS). See Active Cell Operating Mode for more details.
