Scenarios for MMS Message Transmission
Last updated: January 3, 2008
This section is applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.
MMS messages can be transmitted not only based on CDMA (IS-2000) system but also based on
Hybrid Mode
(IS-2000/IS-95 and IS-856) system. The scenarios that the test set can support are shown below:
MMS Messages Transmitted Based on IS-2000 System
1. Mobile-Terminated MMS Messages
-
The mobile station is first notified via SMS message that an MMS message is available for retrieval. Then a high speed packet data service connection (SO33(+F-SCH)) is required to set up to retrieve the MMS. The data rate can be changed up to 153.6kbps while on MMS transmission. To change the data rate see
How Do I Set Up Data Channel Parameters?
.
-
As data is transferred, monitor the Counters window (see
Data Counters
) and the Data Throughput Monitor window (see
Data Throughput Monitor
). These tools are useful for analyzing data transfer rates under various RF and call processing conditions.
2. Mobile-Originated MMS Messages
-
The mobile station originates an MMS message, then transmits it on an established packed data connection. When MMS message arrives at the MMSC, the MMSC will save it in the dedicated folder.

As data is transferred, monitor the Counters window (see
Data Counters
) and the Data Throughput Monitor window (see
Data Throughput Monitor
). These tools are useful for analyzing data transfer rates under various RF and call processing conditions.
