Call Waiting

This section is only applicable to the lab application.

Call Waiting is a supplementary service in both wired and wireless systems. This feature allows you to perform Call Waiting tests required by 3GPP2 signalling conformance test specification.

In this test, the test set is able to:

So, Call Waiting functionality provides you the awareness of a second calling party call while having a voice connection with calling party 1. It also enables you to put current call on hold and connect to the calling party 2, as well as to switch back from calling party 2 to calling party 1. (See Call Waiting State Transition for details.)

The first voice call between MS and test set is always bound to calling party 1, no matter the call is originated from MS or test set. When you originate a voice call from the test set, the information record of the calling party 1 is sent to the called MS via the Alert With Information Message (AWIM) or Extended Alert With Information Message (EAWIM) (only applicable to protocol revision 7 and above) . When there is a waiting call the test set will send a "Call Waiting Indicator" to MS via the Flash With Information Message (FWIM) or Extended Flash With Information Message (EFWIM) (only applicable to protocol revision 7 and above) identified by the RECORD_TYPE field with a value of 00010101. The "Call Waiting Indicator" is set to a "1" to indicate to MS that a call is waiting and set to a "0" if the waiting call is not answered by MS and disconnects.

Operating Considerations

Call Waiting is supported in the Active Cell operation mode, IS-2000 or IS-95 system type and all voice service options (SO1, SO3, SO17, SO68, or SO32768) selected for the current radio configurations.
