This section is only applicable to the lab application.

There are two typical test scenarios using Call Waiting functionality in the test set which are specified in 3GPP2 C.S0043-0 Version 1.0. These two scenarios verify all possible state transitions described in Call Waiting State Transition .

The procedures are detailed below:

Call Waiting Test Scenario 1

  1. Press the Call Setup key.

  2. Verify that the Operating Mode ( F1 ) is set to Active Cell and the System Type ( F2 ) is set to IS-2000 or IS-95 .

  3. Press the FCH Service Option Setup ( F12 ) key and set a voice service option (such as SO1, SO3, SO17, SO68, or SO32768) for the current radio configuration.

  4. Press the More key on the lower left side of the test set until 5 of 5 of the call control menu is displayed.

  5. Press the F3 ( Call Waiting Info ), then press the F1 ( Calling Party Number Parms ). The Calling Party Number Parameters menu is displayed. See Parameters Description for parameter setting instruction.

    • Set the Calling Party Number Inclusion to Include .

    • Leave other settings to the default values. You also can change them if desired.

      NOTE
Don't set the calling party 1 and calling party 2 to the same values, otherwise. the setting will be rejected with an error posted.

  6. (Optional) To capture a protocol log for further analysis, start a capture in the Wireless Protocol Advisor (WPA) software (see Protocol Logging ) and then perform the following steps.

  7. Press the Originate Call ( F3 ) to establish a voice call between calling party 1 and the MS. The first voice call between MS and test set is always bound to calling party 1, no matter the call is originated from MS or test set. Check for Connected in the Active Cell status field, it should be always in connected status during the Call Waiting test. And the Calling Party 1 Status is changed to Active .

  8. Press the Connect Calling Party 2 ( F5 ) to inform the MS that there is a waiting call. Now the Calling Party 2 Status is changed to Waiting .

  9. If you start a WPA capture in step 5, verify that the test set sends a Flash With Information Message or an Extended Flash With Information Message (only applicable to protocol revision 7 and above) with CALL_WAITING_INDICATOR field set to `1' to inform the MS that there is a waiting call to be answered.

  10. Press the SEND button (normally in green color) on MS to put calling party 1 on hold and connect to calling party 2. Now the Calling Party 1 Status is changed to Waiting and the Calling Party 2 Status is changed to Active .

  11. Verify that a voice path is established between the MS and calling party 2.

  12. Press the SEND again on MS to put calling party 2 on hold and reconnect the voice path with calling party 1. Now the Calling Party 1 Status is changed to Active and the Calling Party 2 Status is changed to Waiting again.

  13. Press the Disconnect Calling Party 1 ( F4 ) to end the call with calling party 1. The Calling Party 1 Status is changed to Idle .

Calling Party Test Scenario 2

  1. Perform steps 1 through 9 as described in Calling Party Test Scenario 1 procedure.

  2. Do not answer this call at the MS. Press the Disconnect Calling Party 2 ( F5 ) to disconnect call from calling party 2. The Calling Party 2 Status is changed to Idle .

  3. If you start a WPA capture, verify that the test set sends a Flash With Information Message or an Extended Flash With Information Message with CALL_WAITING_INDICATOR field set to `0' to inform the MS that the waiting call has gone away.
