This section is only applicable to the lab application.
There are two typical test scenarios using Call Waiting functionality in the test set which are specified in 3GPP2 C.S0043-0 Version 1.0. These two scenarios verify all possible state transitions described in Call Waiting State Transition .
The procedures are detailed below:
Press the Call Setup key.
Verify that the
Operating Mode
(

) is set to Active Cell and the
System Type

Press the
FCH Service Option Setup

) key and set a voice service option (such as SO1, SO3, SO17, SO68, or SO32768) for the current radio configuration.
Press the

key on the lower left side of the test set until

menu is displayed.
Press the

Calling Party Number Parms
). The Calling Party Number Parameters menu is displayed. See

Leave other settings to the default values. You also can change them if desired.
(Optional) To capture a protocol log for further analysis, start a capture in the Wireless Protocol Advisor (WPA) software (see Protocol Logging ) and then perform the following steps.
Press the
Originate Call
(
F3
) to establish a voice call between calling party 1 and the MS. The first voice call between MS and test set is always bound to calling party 1, no matter the call is originated from MS or test set. Check for
Connected
in the
Active Cell
status field, it should be always in
connected
status during the Call Waiting test. And the
Calling Party 1 Status
is changed to
Active
.
Press the
Connect Calling Party 2
(
F5
) to inform the MS that there is a waiting call. Now the
Calling Party 2 Status
is changed to
Waiting
.
If you start a WPA capture in step 5, verify that the test set sends a Flash With Information Message or an Extended Flash With Information Message (only applicable to protocol revision 7 and above) with CALL_WAITING_INDICATOR field set to `1' to inform the MS that there is a waiting call to be answered.
Press the SEND button (normally in green color) on MS to put calling party 1 on hold and connect to calling party 2. Now the
Calling Party 1 Status
is changed to
Waiting
and the
Calling Party 2 Status
is changed to
Active
.
Verify that a voice path is established between the MS and calling party 2.
Press the SEND again on MS to put calling party 2 on hold and reconnect the voice path with calling party 1. Now the
Calling Party 1 Status
is changed to
Active
and the
Calling Party 2 Status
is changed to
Waiting
again.
Press the
Disconnect Calling Party 1
(
F4
) to end the call with calling party 1. The
Calling Party 1 Status
is changed to
Idle
.
Press the SEND again in the MS. Verify that an voice path is established between the MS and calling party 2. Now the
Calling Party 2 Status
is changed to
Active
.
Press the
Connect Calling Party 1
(
F4
) to inform the MS that there is a waiting call. Now the
Calling Party 1 Status
is changed to
Waiting
.
Press the
End Call
(F3) to end the call with two calling parties. Check for
Idle
in the
Active Cell
status field and the
Call Waiting Status
field.
Perform steps 1 through 9 as described in Calling Party Test Scenario 1 procedure.
Do not answer this call at the MS. Press the
Disconnect Calling Party 2
(
F5
) to disconnect call from calling party 2. The
Calling Party 2 Status
is changed to
Idle
.
If you start a WPA capture, verify that the test set sends a Flash With Information Message or an Extended Flash With Information Message with CALL_WAITING_INDICATOR field set to `0' to inform the MS that the waiting call has gone away.
