Mobile-Originated SMS Message Operation

Mobile-Originated SMS Message Operation

Last updated: January 3, 2008

This section is applicable to the lab application and to a test application with the required feature license.

NOTE
The test set does not guarantee the functionality of the simultaneous Mobile-Terminated (see Mobile-Terminated SMS Message Operation ) and Mobile-Originated SMS messages, which may result in both messages not being properly handled (with non-typical SMS Status transitions) or may result in one message being processed as normal and the other message not being properly handled.

You can send an SMS message from a mobile station to the test set. This is the Mobile-Originated SMS message. Only point-to-point message is available for the Mobile-Originated SMS messages.

The test set supports receiving an SMS message which was sent from the mobile station in three ways. See Receiving SMS Messages Sent from the Mobile Station .

When the test set receives a mobile originated SMS message, the message contents are displayed on the Mobile-Originated Message window and the parameters included in the received SMS message such as Teleservice, Message Encoding, etc., are displayed in the Mobile-Originated SMS Info window. You can control how the test set responds to a received SMS message and how the received message is displayed, see Setting Mobile-Originated SMS Parameters .

For front panel operation on sending a short message from the mobile station to the test set, see Mobile-Originated SMS Procedure .
